OCIA - BECOMING CATHOLIC
While your personal journey towards Catholicism may have begun months or even years ago—Holy Spirit Catholic Church offers accompaniment as you begin the formal process of becoming a Roman Catholic.
Typically, this process starts with OCIA. OCIA is a process of intellectual, spiritual, and moral formation that prepares individuals for initiation into the Catholic Church.
At Holy Spirit, OCIA classes are offered twice yearly, once over the summer and once over the school year. In both the summer and school year, classes are on Thursday nights, 7:00-8:00PM.
After completing OCIA, those who wish are fully initiated into the Catholic Church during the Easter season.

I'm interested in becoming Catholic, but I haven't made up my mind. Is OCIA right for me?
Yes. Exploring the possibility of joining the Catholic faith is a significant step, and anybody taking that step is welcome to begin OCIA. Bring your doubts and questions—God wants to meet you where you are.
Thursday nights are busy for me. Can I do OCIA?
If you are interested in becoming Catholic, support is available to assist you on your faith journey. Please contact the parish office at (605) 371-2320 to discuss your situation.
I'm already Catholic, but want to know more about my faith. Can I attend OCIA?
Absolutely. While OCIA is primarily for those preparing to become Catholic, those who are already Catholic can learn a great deal by attending. It is not uncommon for several Catholics to attend OCIA every year at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
