From the Desk of the Pastor…

Mother Nature can never be tamed or controlled, even in the 21st century. The “dog days” of summer that usually accompany August weather in southern South Dakota have turned into the monsoon season. Weather not withstanding, some things stay the same – like the beginning of school – which is right around the corner, and with the start of school some significant happenings in our parish. First, Autumn Rocks, our 2nd annual neighborhood concert showcasing local talent and headliner Tonic Solfa on the evening of August 20th (word has it that Fr. Haggerty is moving from “priest rap” into the “old-time country gospel hour”). Secondly, our Stewardship Fair is the weekend of August 28th-29th. In an attempt to get more people to the fair, we are giving away eight $50.00 Sioux Falls Catholic School certificates via drawing. Those attending the fair will be eligible for the drawing. SFCS certificates are like gift cards to your favorite restaurants, gas stops, grocery stores, etc. Plus, no donut holes this year… bigger and better eats, which Fr. Haggerty always likes to see. We know that some of you will be out of town, so we will have pre-fair signup just the one weekend before the Fair. The Fair and Stewardship signup are so very important to the life and ministry of our parish. We are a vibrant faith community today because of the emphasis we place on the stewardship way of life. And so, I invite you and encourage you, as your pastor, to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ by being a true steward of your time and talent. As Our Lord tells us today, “Where your treasure is, there also will be your heart.”
